Walkin’ Talkin’ Pinkie Pie Is Cute for My Little Pony Lovers, but the Thrill Quickly Wears Off

My daughter desperately wanted this toy when she saw it at Target once we finally took her to spend her allowance. Unfortunately, she was a few dollars short, so we talked her into saving a little longer and then making her purchase if she still wanted it.

That was all she could talk about for weeks. Finally, she got it. It entertained her for a couple of days, but after that, she seemed to lose interest. I expected more love for a toy she saved up for weeks to buy.

Walkin’ Talkin’ Pinkie Pie does just what her name says—she walks (rolls) around and spouts off a few phrases here and there. She sings, too, and looks extra cute with her headband that looks like it has antennae on it. It does come with the batteries necessary to make it operate (two AAs).

Still, she only says a handful of things, and I guess my five-year-old found her boring after she’d played with her a little.

The toy is recommended for ages three and up, but since my daughter’s such a My Little Pony fan and especially loves Pinkie Pie, she thought she needed it. I think it would be much more suitable for a younger girl.

The toy is plastic and that material itself seems pretty sturdy. What worries me is the fact that the joints, the moving parts, feel so fragile. It seems like they could easily break in a moment of rough play. So while a five-year-old may not be so enthralled with the toy after a week, max, a three-year-old may not be careful enough to keep it from breaking in that same time frame.

Still, it’s a cute toy for little girls who really love My Little Pony. If a child really enjoys toys that talk and walk in general, or if you have a reasonably responsible three-year-old, it may be perfect.
