GoldieBlox and the Parade Float Gets Girls Excited About Engineering
GoldieBlox and the Parade Float is the much anticipated sequel to GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine.
This new book and construction set features Goldie’s friends Ruby and Katinka as they compete in a princess pageant trying to win a chance to ride in the town parade. When Katinka loses the crown, Goldie and Ruby work together to build her a parade float as well as other fun rolling, spinning, and whirling designs.
Like its predecessor, this book and construction set is intended to introduce young girls to basic engineering principles while building problem solving and spatial skills. GoldieBlox and the Parade Float introduces girls to the concept of a wheel and axle, while GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine introduced them to a belt drive.
GoldieBlox and the Parade Float sells for $19.99 and comes with nine design ideas, but it is compatible with other GoldieBlox toys to create even more building possibilities.
You can also buy a new Blox + Bits Expansion Pack for $8.99 with rods and blocks to fit both the original GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine and GoldieBlox and the Parade Float sets.
GoldieBlox recently launched an online play gallery sharing how-to videos starring young female inventors. The team encourages girls to submit their own designs for a chance to be featured on website and the GoldieBlox YouTube channel.
All GoldieBlox books and construction sets are recommended for girls ages 4 to 9.
