The Alex Toys Ready, Set, Count! kit makes learning numbers fun for kids by providing a series of arts and crafts activities that boost number recognition skills. Kids can make the adorable paper finger puppets featured above, create a numbered paper chain to count down to a birthday or other special holiday, design a number collage, and make their own giraffe paper ruler.

The Ready, Set, Count! kit is recommended for children ages 4 and up. The kit received an Academics’ Choice Mind Spring Award for its to make math fun for little ones

You can purchase the Ready, Set Count! kit on the Alex Toys website for $11.95. The kit includes 176 stickers and paper shapes, a glue stick, and activity sheets. You can download a free PDF of the instructions on their website if you want to see if the projects would hold your child’s interest.

My son would have loved this kit in preschool. Playing with finger puppets was one of his favorite activities at this age and I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t enjoy the thrill of ripping off links in a paper chain to move one step closer to the big day.

I first introduced my son to the paper chain craft to count down the days to Christmas. Soon, we were making chains for Valentine’s Day, Easter, the first day of summer, Halloween, and his birthday!
