The Treebobs Introduce a World of Magic and Mystical Delight

The Treebobs and Air Rena, by Declan Harney, is an appealing story for young readers who like tales of magic and mystical delight.

Rotten Rena, the villain of the story, has decided to disturb the peaceful residents of the Enchanted Forest of the Treebobs by flying her large ship close to their homes. Her ship provides transportation to the Dark Woods, which brings trolls and other unpleasant creatures to the home of the fairies. The fairies must work together to hatch a plan to send Rotten Rena and her witchy friends back where they came from.

I would say that The Treebobs and Air Rena is appropriate for children in grades 2 through 4. The illustrations are colorful and appealing to young readers.

I’m not a huge fan of the typography in the book, however. There’s quite a bit of text to the story and it’s a little hard to read in the font they’ve selected. The text is also center aligned, which tends to make my son lose his place when he’s trying to read a book independently.

The story held his interest, but this design flaw definitely detracted from the message of the book.

The Treebobs and Air Rena is actually the sixth book in the Treebobs series, but I think the story makes sense even if you aren’t familiar with the other books in the series.

The author will donate 20% of the profits from the sale of The Treebobs and Air Rena to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Visit the Treebobs website to learn more about the books in the series or purchase The Treebobs and Air Rena on Amazon.
