Gold Emblem Oats & Honey Crunchy Granola Bars Are a Tasty and Affordable Snack

Posted on Dec 26, 2013 by No Comments

Granola bars are one of my favorite on-the-go snacks. I love the crunchy texture and the sweet honey taste of these Gold Emblem granola bars from CVS. My son likes them too, but he seemed to have trouble eating them without making a huge mess at the table. They crumble easily, so you have to be careful not to get crumbs all over the place.

There are six packages in each box of granola bars. There are two bars in each package. If you want to make a special treat, try spreading a bit of peanut butter in between the bars like a sandwich. They’re also tasty with Nutella, although this doesn’t really add any health benefits.

Each package has 190 calories, 12 grams of sugar, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 150 mg of sodium, 4 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber. The bars are a good source of whole grains according to USDA dietary guidelines because they contain 19 grams of whole grain oats per serving.

In my opinion, Gold Emblem Oats & Honey Crunchy Granola Bars taste exactly like Nature Valley Crunchy Oats ‘N’ Honey Granola Bars. CVS sells the Gold Emblem bars for $3.19, while a comparable box of Nature Valley bars are $4.19. The Gold Emblem bars are also a better source of whole grains, since the Nature Valley bars only have 16 grams of whole grains per serving.

If you’re looking for quick snacks for yourself or a tasty treat for your child’s lunchbox, you can’t go wrong with these granola bars.
