Add Sparkle to Your Outfit with Shoes from Mel by Melissa

Mel by Melissa specializes in playful, feminine shoes that are reminiscent of the jelly shoes you might remember as a child.

Recently, I had a chance to try out the Mel Mango ballet flats. These shoes are simply adorable. The pink glitter makes me smile every time I look at them and I got lots of compliments when I wore them out of the house for the first time.

One concern I had with these shoes was that the glitter would come off easily. The glitter seems to be fairly well adhered. There’s a bit of flaking, but less than I expected from this type of product.

Unfortunately, the shoes don’t fit my feet right at all. They’re too narrow and tight enough to pinch at the toes. I wear a size 10 and have slightly wide feet, although I don’t normally buy wide width shoes.

I’m hoping my niece, who wears a 9 1/2, will be able to use these shoes. Half sizes aren’t available, so I’m thinking they’d be a better fit for her. I hate to part with such adorable shoes, but I’m past the point in my life where I’m willing to suffer for the sake of cuteness.

Another factor to consider is that the shoes have a very low rise on the sides and in the front. I had a fair amount of toe cleavage showing when I wore them. This might be different on a woman with smaller feet, but it’s something to keep in mind if you aren’t a fan of the toe cleavage trend.

If you’re going to order Mel shoes, I’d suggest getting them from Zappos. Since Zappos has free shipping and free returns, there’s an easy fix if you find that the sizing doesn’t work for you. Zappos has the Mel Mango for $35.99. It comes in black glitter, gold glitter, pink glitter, or silver glitter.

You can check out the full line of shoes on the Mel Shoes website.
