A New Way to Get Kids to Eat More Fruits and Veggies

Posted on Dec 4, 2013 by 1 Comment

If you’re looking for a new way to entice your child to eat more fruits and veggies, consider trying Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers.

Fruit Burst Squeezers have 1 ½ servings of real fruit and/or veggies in each pouch. They contain no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or colors. They are packaged in a BPA free pouch.

Fruit Burst Squeezers come in two varieties: Simply Fruit (Strawberry, Mixed Berry, Apple Cinnamon) and Fruit + Veggie (Peach-Mango, Blueberry). They are pear based to have a smoothie like consistency.

My son liked the Simply Fruit varieties better than the Fruit + Veggie varieties. His favorite was the Simply Fruit Strawberry pouches. I was really hoping I could get him to go for the Fruit + Veggie varieties because there’s a limited amount of veggies he will eat. But, I think the Simply Fruit pouches are still a nice special occasion treat.

I tried sending Fruit Burst Squeezers to school with him for lunch, but he came back saying he couldn’t figure out how to get the cap off on his own and there wasn’t a teacher around to help him. So, I would suggest practicing with your child at home to make sure he or she can open the pouch before you send it to school.

The Fruit Burst Squeezers pouches are shelf stable, so they don’t need to be refrigerated until they are open and they won’t spoil nearly as quickly as fresh produce does. However, they will taste better if they’re cold when your child eats them.

Have you had a chance to try Del Monte’s Fruit Burst Squeezers yet? If so, what flavors did your kids like the best?

Hmmm. Sounds like one might be better off with just some simple unsweetened applesauce or something. Unless the veggie ones are really good, I don’t see the point since my kids are okay with fruit.
