A Must-Have Reference for Your Home Library

When I was a kid, I loved looking at the encyclopedias at the library. I could have spent hours flipping through the books, seeing what different subjects caught my eye.

Even though the multi volume encyclopedia sets have fallen out of favor, Discovery Kids Encyclopedia of Everything is a must-have addition to any parent’s library. This 224-page book is sure to inspire a love of learning in your child.

The photographs and illustrations in Discovery Kids Encyclopedia of Everything are gorgeous. The book is designed to be easily flipped through and is something a curious child could spend hours looking at.

There’s not a whole lot of text on each page, although the writers did a good job of providing important facts for each topic that’s covered. This book would be a good choice for a child who likes nonfiction books, but struggles with reading comprehension issues.

This book includes chapters on the universe, the natural world, the human body, history, and science and culture.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • The Big Bang
  • The life cycle of a star
  • Photo synthesis
  • The nervous system
  • World War II
  • Prehistoric art
  • World religions

My son is almost nine. He’s an advanced reader for his age, but I think this book would appeal to most kids from 7-13. It’s a good reference point for starting school projects, but full of facts that kids can use to impress their friends.

Discovery Kids Encyclopedia of Everything, published by Parragon Books, is available on Amazon for $11.41.

I’m going to look for this for my son. While the internet is great, there is nothing like learning from a book and he would dig this one with all kinds of facts and interesting data.
