A Cool Activity Book for Preschool Boys

Posted on Feb 28, 2014 by No Comments

For some reason, I had expected 100 Cool Activities for Boys to be like The Boys Doodle Book by Andrew Pinder, which my son loves. However, this is a book for much younger children. It’s better suited to a preschooler or kindergartner than a child in the older elementary grades.

The binding is very nice compared to a typical activity book. The book features a padded hardcover and a spiral binding, with tabs that separate the activities into the following sections:

  • Bugs
  • Dinosaurs
  • Sports
  • Tools
  • Tractors

The activities encourage kids to draw, count, trace, and complete simple puzzles. This would be a good book to keep in the car to occupy a young child on a long road trip or to take into the doctor’s office to make time spent in the waiting room less stressful.

The book includes 350 stickers, as well as an assortment of cardboard stencils that your child can use to draw various shapes that match the five different themes in the book.

The stencil sheets aren’t easily removable, however, which seems like a bit of a design flaw. Personally, I would have included the stencils in a pocket at the back of the book. As is, kids can’t use the stencils to complete the activities in the book without ripping them completely out of the spiral binding.

100 Cool Activities for Boys is published by Parragon Books. It can be purchased for $8.99 on the Amazon website. There is also a 100 Cool Activities for Girls book available.

Disclaimer: A copy of 100 Cool Activities for Boys was provided by the publisher for the purpose of preparing this review.
