If you have a picky eater, than you know how difficult it is to get them to eat . . . especially healthy stuff that they know are veggies and other stuff they aren’t interested in eating. I’ve tried to beg, plead, compromise, threaten – just about anything and everything to get my picky eater to eat. And more than half the time, I’m unsuccessful. A friend recently introduced me to a product that just might help me: Food Face Plates.

These Food Face Plates are cute and so fun! You can choose from a “Mr.” plate or a “Ms.” plate. The plates allows your kids to “dress up” the bald Mr. or Ms., which is not only fun, but also allows them to use their imaginations and gets their creative juices flowing!

food_face_plate_uncommon_goodsYou take whatever foods you are having for your meal and use them to dress up the face’s eyes, lips and hair. You can add earrings, glasses, a tie or any other items that you can  imagine. From the Uncommon Goods site where you can purchase the plates comes these ideas: mashed potato pearls, sunny-side sunglasses, broccoli bouffant? See? You get the idea!

The plates are dishwasher and microwave safe and are made from hotel-quality, food-safe, high-fire ceramics. This could be an issue if you have young children because if they drop the plate, chances are it will break. And they aren’t cheap; one plate costs $12.99.  Still, I would be willing to give one a shot for my picky eater – my four year old son. If it works, the $13 would be worth it!

What do you think of these Food Face Plates? Would you purchase them?

I think I’ve seen these before. They are so cute! A great idea for picky eaters. The price seems high for what it is — I’d pay a few dollars for them but perhaps not $13 each.

Love the sample food plate ideas!

LOVE these plates. They are so fun, and I think I like the design aspect enough that I’d pay that for at least 4 of them for my kids!

I love these plates because I love to decorate food, but I doubt it’ll help with the eating. I can see the opposite happening. My kids will be so busy pushing food around their plates, that they wont eat at all.
What I find effective in convincing those broccoli spears down my little one’s thraot is to tell them a story and feed them. it helps. They don’t realize what they are doing and are motivated to eat, just to hear the story. My mother did it for me and it worked.
