YOLO Colorhouse: Healthy Paint For A Healthier Home

One of the quickest and easiest ways to spruce up a room is to repaint, and while it’s not the only way to decorate a room without spending a fortune, I know a lot of people don’t like to do it. It’s messy, it leaves a bad smell in the house, and it just isn’t a very fun task. Except for me. I love to paint! My biggest concern when it comes to painting is all the chemicals that float around in the air that the kids are breathing in. That’s why I was excited to hear about YOLO Colorhouse.

YOLO Colorhouse was born out of a need for healthier paint and better color. According to their site, they are dedicated to “making beautiful color solutions simpler and we are dedicated to doing business in a more sustainable way.”

YOLO paint is for the interior of your home. Its palette colors are all based on colors found in nature. They borrowed some of the earth’s naturally occurring elements and combined them with environmentally responsible paint. The paint has a durable, washable finish, so it’s easy to keep clean as well.

YOLO paints do NOT contain:

  • Carcinogens
  • Reproductive toxins
  • Mutagens
  • Hazardous air pollutants
  • Ozone depleting compounds
  • Formaldehyde
  • Phthalates
  • VOCs

YOLO Colorhouse paint is a premium paint that is now available at select Lowe’s on the west coast, at Home Depot nationally, and you can also purchase online. Yes, it’s a little pricier than regular paint, but when it comes to our health, I think it’s money well spent.

Smart thinking! I for one can’t stand the paint smell, even when we use latex instead of oil. The smell lingers for weeks in my very sensitive nose, and I can’t even IMAGINE what the dog thinks of it!!

I try and get painting down when the kids are away (rarely) so I don’t expose them to the strong chemicals. So happy to see a paint company doing something about it! Yay!

I love these colors earth tones are my favorite right now. It is nice that it does not have all of the harsh chemicals either.
