Why You Shouldn’t Waste Your Money on the Gyro Bowl

Yes, that’s the Gyro Bowl. We’ve all seen it and thought “Wow! That looks amazing! I wonder if it works?” The short answer is no, it doesn’t work.

If you go to the Gyro Bowl website, you will see a video of little kids smiling and so happy to have their very own Gyro Bowl. You will also see an adult set of hands twirling the gyro bowl around, and incredibly, all of the contents stay inside the bowl.

But check out just how slow those adult hands are spinning the bowl. Check out how the toddlers are holding the bowl with both hands, in an upright position. I can tell you from experience that toddlers DO NOT hold the bowl that way!

Here are the features of the Gyro Bowl, as listed on the website:

• Spins and Spins and Stuff Stays In!
• Virtually Indestructible
• No Stress, No Mess

My three year old can use it and it doesn’t spill. That’s because he holds it upright and doesn’t fling it around like my almost-two year old twins do.

My 20 month old twins are maniacs with the bowl. They figured out in less than 5 minutes how to get the Gyro Bowl to spill.

If my toddlers only held it like this, the Gyro Bowl would work

The “first ever spill proof bowl” for children? Not so much. No matter what I put in the bowl, they could get it to spill out. And if they drop it, game over. The contents of the bowl spill everywhere.

They also figured out how to pull the inner bowl out, thus taking apart the “virtually indestructible” “no stress, no mess” bowl. They were not impressed by the Gyro Bowl. I wasn’t either.

Don’t believe me? You can go to YouTube and see many others demonstrate just how this bowl really works. Or doesn’t work, I should say.

So save yourself the 15 bucks you were thinking of spending on this bowl. You can thank me later.

Do you have a Gyro Bowl for your little ones? Are you a fan?

Who are these people spending time and money, and research and development, and marketing dollars …. trying to sell us something that can’t ever work. Kids spill stuff. They’re kids. That’s their job.

YOU CAN’T HAVE A TODDLER AND A SPILL-PROOF LIFE. THE END.

My sister bought one for my little guy at the Kitchener Surplus Store for $3. While it’s definitely not spill proof, my 12 month old finds it amusing and enjoys eating snacks out of it. I would have never paid $15 for it though!

I did pay the money and he was a yr old at the time, now 17 months old. Waste of money,,takes it apart, food does not stay in it…wish I would of read this before I bought 2 for 21.99 plus shipping/handling…lol

I got one for half off, and it works for us just fine. My 3 year old daughter doesn’t hold a bowl of goldfish straight and the crackers usually spill out, on the sofa, in the car, etc. However, with the Gyro Bowl, I’ve had no spills. She likes the handles and can tip it all she likes — the goldfish crackers stay in.

Now, if she was the type of kids that just throws her bowl of crackers, no, the Gyro Bowl would not work. She’s never tried to dismantle it. And I wouldn’t say she’s overly mellow.

I like it. It works for us and our household gives it three thumbs up.

yes the gyro ball is crap. doesnt work. i wish i could have read this before spending the $. i think we got it half off of 5 bucks. we have a very persistent 17 month old and i think we might have gotten it when she was 7 or 8 months old and she figured how to get the goldfish/cereal to fall out. its pretty disapointing, we couldnt wait to try it out. it wouldve been nice to have less of a mess. we have stairs too. stuff fell out.
