Use UrbanSitter to Find a New Babysitter

Since I work from home and live in the same town as my parents, I don’t have a lot of experience with finding a babysitter. However, based on what I’ve heard from friends, finding a good babysitter is not exactly an easy task.

If you’re looking for a babysitter, UrbanSitter might be a good resource to consider. This site and mobile app lets you search for sitters based on specific qualifications, such as a sitter who is bi-lingual, trained in CPR, or has experience caring for twins. (Searching by rates is another option too, if you’re on a really tight budget.)

You can also use Facebook Connect to see UrbanSitter recommendations from people in your social circle. The usefulness of this feature is obviously going to depend upon how many parents you know on Facebook, however.

Once you find a sitter, you can book and pay for services online. This seems like a really convenient way to keep track of expenses if you need to know how much you’re spending on childcare for income tax purposes.

Another cool thing about UrbanSitter is that you can buy babysitting gift cards. Wouldn’t this be an awesome gift for a new mom or a stressed out friend in desperate need of a break?

UrbanSitter was founded by four busy parents who wanted to come up with a quicker and more efficient way of finding reliable childcare. The site has been profiled in a variety of mainstream media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Wired, Mashable, and Daily Candy.

If you’ve used UrbanSitter, please feel free to leave a comment sharing your experiences! Did it make the process of finding good childcare a bit easier?
