Training Potties That Will Make Potty Training (A Little) Easier

I have never met a parent that has enjoyed potty training. It’s not fun for mom or dad, and it’s not fun for the kid. It’s a lot of work, you spend a lot of time in the bathroom, and it’s messy.

When you potty train depends on your child, and it can happen as early as 12 months or waiting as long as 3 years. But when the time comes, you will realize that there are WAY MORE potty chairs out there than you could even imagine!

And while there are lots of great chairs out there, the “best one” for your child will depend on his/her age, your personal preference, and trial and error. I’m starting to do a bit of potty training with my 22 month old twins, and one prefers the security of a little potty chair, while the other wants to sit on the toilet. I of course would prefer them to both sit on the toilet because cleaning out the potty chair isn’t all that fun of a task (but still beats diapers!)

I’ve been looking around at potty chairs, and this one seems like a winner! The IKEA LÄTTSAM (pictured above) is super simple because it’s all one piece. You just pick up the entire chair and dump it out. And did I mention it’s only 5 bucks?!

For an on-the-toilet potty ring, I like the Baby Bjorn Toilet Trainer. It’s made from hard, contoured, BPA-free plastic, so it won’t crack or collect germs. It also can adjusts to fit any size and shape toilet seat. Reviews show that it’s  more stable and safe for little learners.

Looking for a green potty chair? This is probably as close as you’ll get. TrendyKid bECOpotty is made from natural plant fibers and is completely biodegradable. It has an extra high back, a splash guard, and a one-piece design.

So there you have it! A few potties worth checking out if you’re thinking of potty training.

I have the pink Ikea Potty and it has been great! I actually store it in my trunk for those long road trips or when there is not enough time for a walk to find a potty wherever you are. It has been a life saver and has saved me on many occasions. Also loved the price!

I never used a potty once in training. Just a few different kinds of seat inserts, a padded one that was comfy but collected germs like crazy, and then a perfectly plain, no fuss, easy to clean one that came with stickers your kid could decorate herself, making her more invested in using it.

    Worked like a charm.

I just had to add, I thought it was very exciting to potty train my children! Not a chore at all to help them learn this big kid skill. They got the hang of it quickly and it was high-fives and cheers all around. It’s a fun time.

A few inevitable mistakes, but most kids are ready by two-and-a-half years, so go for it!
