I’ve started obsessing over perfume lately, and The Perfumed Court has come to my rescue more than once. Sometimes the description of a scent on a blog or in a magazine will have me wanting to drop everything and go to the mall to try it out, but obviously that’s almost never a good idea.

Sometimes you need more than one day to determine if a scent is “the one” for you or even one you’d like to add to your collection, and unless you live close enough to one of those stores to just pop in and out on a whim, it could take a long time to ever come to a conclusion. Then there are those niche scents that aren’t sold everywhere.

The Perfumed Court has a vast selection of fragrance samples to choose from. They are not “inspired by” fragrances, but decants of the authentic scents so you will know by the time you finish your sample whether you need a whole bottle or not.

You can choose the size you would like, from 1ML to 15ML, with prices starting around $3.00 and going up from there (starting prices vary by fragrance).

At around $3.00 (or more) for one milliliter, this is not exactly an inexpensive way to try scents, especially when shipping costs are factored in, but it is much less expensive than purchasing a full bottle unsniffed and then realizing it doesn’t work with your skin chemistry or you just don’t like it. If returns are allowed, you may still be stuck paying for shipping both ways.

Even 1ML samples will give you several chances to try out the scent, so that when the time comes to place an order or request a fragrance as a gift, you can be confident you’ll love it. I almost put a bottle of perfume on my Christmas list that I had no way of trying out in a store in my whole state, but I ordered a sample and realized I’d have been tired of it within two days.

All of my samples have been mailed within a few days of ordering, and presentation is excellent, too. When I got my first order of samples, I was surprised to find them all wrapped neatly in a cute little drawstring bag.

I also got a delicious piece of coffee-flavored candy with each order, which I thought was a nice touch. (What can I say? I love coffee as much as I love perfume.)

I really like the option of getting enough of each perfume I’m interested in to try for a week or two for just a few dollars. I always make sure to order several samples, though, to make the shipping cost worth it. (I paid $2.95, which isn’t a lot, but if you’re only ordering one sample, it could double the total.)
