The Perfect Meatloaf Pan: Is It Perfect?

At our house, one of the most requested things for dinner is meatloaf. Ground beef meatloaf, turkey meatloaf, Mexican meatloaf, bacon wrapped meatloaf . . . just about anyway you can make a meatloaf, we’ll eat it. One thing I’ve always been frustrated by is how if you use ground beef, the meatloaf turns out soggy because of all the fat that runs into the bottom of the pan. I recently saw the Perfect Meatloaf pan on TV and wondered if it really worked as good as it looked like it did.

perfect_meatloaf_panBut I am cheap, and wasn’t about to pay $19.99 PLUS shipping for something that may or may not work. I was grocery shopping last week, and say the same product for $14.99. I thought for that price, I’d give it a shot.

It works. Just as good as the cheesy as-seen-on-TV commercials says that it does! You prepare the meatloaf, place it on the custom-fitted air bake tray, and put it in the oven. The air bake tray elevates the meat so heat can circulate underneath and cook evenly . . . and it leaves all the fat in the bottom of the pan so your meatloaf isn’t swimming in it.

I was so surprised by how perfectly cooked the meatloaf I made came out, and that all the fat was underneath the meatloaf and away from it so it wasn’t at all soggy. Once it was done, I let it sit for a few minutes, picked up the air bake tray out of the pan, and slid it onto a serving plate. Easy-peasy! And the pan is non-stick, which made it a cinch to clean.

Does your family like meatloaf? If you make a lot of meatloaves, this is a must have!

Meatloaf is kind of a running joke in my family, because my husband says it was the first thing I ever made him.

I don’t make it that often, but actually when I do, the kids seem to like it. Maybe I’ll get this pan for Christmas and will do it more often, since I’m “famous” for it and all. :)

I find it funny that different folks have different tastes, but I really like my fatty, runny loafs instead of dried out crispy ones. So I’ll pass, and for those of you who like your things crisp, Enjoy the pan made especially for you.

I have never made a meat loaf! But my husband does get it sometimes at restaurants. Maybe I should try it one of these days.
