When my daughter was a baby, there was a period of time when I didn’t even want to leave the house because I felt like no matter what I did, she would be freezing (yes, I was that kind of crazy first-time mom). Something like the Peekaru Hoodie from Together Be would have been a life-saver and done wonders for my sanity (I got a little stir-crazy!) that first winter.
It wouldn’t have mattered if she kicked her shoes off. I wouldn’t have been trying to strap a normal baby carrier or sling over my peacoat. I would’ve been keeping her warm with my own body heat. I actually remember wishing for something like this back then. The $64.95 price tag only would’ve made me flinch a little.
You’ll still need that baby carrier (the hoodie fits most different brands and styles), but this takes the awkwardness out of wearing it and a coat or hoodie because it’s not so bulky and won’t make the straps feel way too tight to move.
You’ll have your hands free, you and your baby will be warm, and you can even wear the hoodie backwards to carry the baby on your back if you prefer that method. The Together Be website suggests turning the hood into a cowl neck. There’s a zipper on the side that makes wearing it backwards easier.
The Peekaru hoodie is recommended for temperatures ranging from around 40 degrees Fahrenheit to about 65, and it’s available in black, grey, and turquoise. The hoodie is made from French terry fabric, but is designed to keep body heat from escaping so you and your baby stay warm.
