Some kids seem to be obsessed with umbrellas. Convenient, since it’s really hard to manage an umbrella over your own head and your child’s at the same time once she reaches a certain age and you can’t really carry her around on your hip anymore.

I found this Paul Frank for Target umbrella in bright pink and thought how perfect it was for girls around my daughter’s age. (There is also a blue one.)

It’s plastic and vinyl, so it’s easy to wipe clean, and it’s shorter than the average umbrella. Her head will be covered while she stomps in puddles (possibly in matching rain boots) and you’ll be dry, too. The shorter length keeps it from being too awkward for a child to manage on her own.

Sadly, you can’t purchase the umbrella in stores. It’s only available at Target online, and I would hate to pay a shipping fee for just an umbrella; it’d make it more expensive than it should be, in my opinion. However, if you’re looking to pick up a few other items, you’ll get free shipping once you hit the $50 mark.

This looks like a good option for moms with little girls who like to play in the rain at the worst possible times, darting out from under the large umbrella to get soaked before going into a store or a restaurant.

Mine loves that (and the stomping in puddles, but aside from slapping some rain boots on her feet, that will probably never be prevented, and that’s okay), then she freezes once inside.
