TasteBook Personalized Cookbooks

I admit it. I have an addiction.

No, it’s not to recreational drugs, chocolate or unfortunately, exercise.

It’s recipes.

I love reading them. I love tearing them out of magazines. I love buying cookbooks full of them. I love organizing them.

As you can imagine, I have a shelf in my kitchen full of cookbooks and binders overstuffed with torn-out magazine pages. Everything I’ve cooked, or want to cook, is on that shelf.

Meanwhile, my mom is compiling my grandmother’s family recipes for me as well.

I have a lot of recipes.

My binder is starting to get worn. Magazine pages are ripping and I can’t find what I need.

Enter TasteBook.

TasteBook is this wickedly cool service that allows you to create your own personalized cookbooks.

And they don’t look like the crummy handmade ones you order from the PTA or the church that’s filled with each family’s recipes. These are beautiful hardcover books.

Here’s how it works.

First, you pick a TasteBook cover. They have scads of beautifully photographed covers to choose from, like the one pictured above. There are specific covers for holidays, too.

Next, you add recipes to your TasteBook. You can search and find recipes from top magazines, online sites and cookbooks. Or, upload your own personal recipes complete with photos.

Each TasteBook order comes with a certain number of recipe credits included – so when you use a recipe from another source, it costs you a credit. If you don’t use all of your credits, you can save them for a future cookbook.

Once you have your collection of recipes built, you preview your book, make any changes, and order!

TasteBooks have spiral binding inside the covers that allows you to open the book up and remove or add pages, which is great. You can purchase insertable sleeves if you want to just include handwritten family recipes in a cookbook without making a printed page out of them.

You can order just the cover of a book, too. Or, order “recipe packs” which are individual recipes that are printed to be inserted into an existing TasteBook.

TasteBooks hold up to 100 recipes. The pricing ranges from $19.95 up to $34.95 per book, depending upon how many recipe credits you buy.

I cannot wait to make a TasteBook. I’m so excited to finally get rid of all of my magazine clippings!

This is an innovative idea that’s actually functional! Very cool. Who doesn’t have old cookbooks brimming with recipe cards and torn pages that fall out every single time you reach for one? I’m going to check this out for sure.

The problem with my recipe collection is that i never make them. I put away a tempting recipe for when i will be in the mood. The mood usauly stikess when i am hungry. I peruse page after page and then say, “lets go out to eat.” therefore, I will not buy another cookbook.
