I have a love-hate relationship with summer now that I’m a mom. I love that it’s warm and the days are longer. I hate that the days are longer partially because my kid wakes me up earlier than necessary. But now, muahahaaa, I have found a way to sleep in because there’s very little sun coming into her room in the mornings.
For $15.99, I bought myself hours of sleep. My daughter didn’t even argue with me about changing out her sheer, sequined curtains because the Eclipse Bailey Window Panel comes in two shades of pink (she chose the darker one).
I have no previous experience with black-out curtains, so I can’t directly compare this brand to others and there weren’t a lot of options at Target (though there were a lot of color options for this particular one).
I will say that it is a LOT darker and cooler in her room, and she sometimes sleeps in one or two extra hours in the mornings. She also naps more easily in the afternoons. Even though the curtain basically glows red when the sun hits it, the room’s still dark.
This curtain supposedly reduces up to 99% of light, helps with noise reduction, and is energy efficient. I don’t personally think it’s blocking a whole 99% of the light, but it’s doing a good enough job of getting me some extra sleep, so I won’t complain.
As I mentioned, it is cooler in her room, so I can see the energy efficiency. It’s not especially noisy here, so I can’t comment much on the noise reduction. Another thing I like about it is that it’s machine washable.
