With each season, I like to switch out my candles. It confuses my mind to burn cinnamon and pumpkin-scented candles in the summer and spring, so a few weeks ago I went in pursuit of some warm weather scents. I found exactly what I was looking for at Bath & Body Works.
I purchased Beach Grass and White Sand, and these candles have been seeing a lot of love lately. This isn’t a collection of scents that smell like your typical “ocean” scents. They’re not all water, salt, and sea air. Instead, you get hints of caramel, ice cream, flowers, clean cotton, and more. This is a mix of a walk down the boardwalk, a stroll on the beach, and all the other things that make up a warm, happy summer.
I went ahead and splurged on the three-wick candles instead of getting the smaller single-wick ones because some of the reviews said it was difficult to get those to burn down completely. The three-wick candles burn evenly all the way around.
Bath & Body Works had a 2 for $20 sale, so I picked some up then. From what I can tell, they frequently have sales like this, so you may not want to run out and pick them up at full price just yet ($19.50).
Some of the scents were a little too sweet for me, but still smelled delicious. If I burned them at my house, I’d just want to eat all day. I do love the ones I picked up, though. Beach Grass smells like freesia and lounging in a field. White Sand reminds me of clean sun-warmed skin and lemonade.
Scent breakdowns include:
- Beach Cabana: Jasmine, orange, and a hint of musk
- Ice Cream Shop: Vanilla, toffee, almond blossom, and cherry (It smelled like cake to me!)
- Root Beer Float: Root beer, vanilla ice cream, and nutmeg
- White Sand: Grapefruit, sandalwood, coconut milk, and jasmine
- Seashore: Water lotus, citrus, and a hint of salty sea air
- Oceanside: Watery greens, cucumber, peony, and melon
- Beach Grass: Dewy greens, palmetto grass, and white freesia
I keep telling myself that since there’s no beach trip in my future, I’m going to kick everyone out of the house, light my new candles, put a beach towel on the floor, play ocean sounds, and enjoy a nice fruity beverage and a book, but I have yet to find the time.
