If you do any shopping at Kmart, you will definitely want to become a Shop Your Way rewards member.
Shop Your Way rewards is not a credit card program, which is what I first assumed when I heard about it. You simply sign up at your local Kmart to earn points on your purchases, which you can redeem for money towards a future purchase whenever you choose. So, hypothetically, you could earn points on groceries and toiletries all year and then use those points to get a huge discount on toys when it’s time for Christmas shopping.
There is no charge to be a Shop Your Way rewards member. You can sign up at any Kmart store, then keep track of your points online. You can also earn points when you buy stuff online from the Kmart website.
There are always special promotions going on that let you earn rewards faster, but even the basic rewards level seems pretty decent. I visit Kmart about once a month and I’ve earned $11.90 in rewards on less than $200 in purchases from this year. I have friends who’ve had better results from the program, but I’m still pretty pleased with my savings.
Another nice benefit of the Shop Your Way rewards program is that it allows for store returns without a receipt since they will have a record of your purchase on file. Even if you don’t return merchandise often, it’s good to have this option available.
