Scratch Off World Map
Am I weird, or are maps the coolest thing ever?
I love them. When I’m the designated navigator on road trips, I can be found poring over the road map for hours. Until I get motion sickness, that is.
Presently, we have two big full-color maps in our playroom. They’re designed specifically for kids, and we like to use them to show the kiddos where grandparents live, or how far away Disney is and why we can’t just get there in 30 minutes.
But other than using the whole push-pin method, there’s not a great way for displaying where we’ve already been.
Now you can with this really cool Scratch Off World Map.
This map is printed on glossy poster paper and measures 32″ x 23″. The map has two layers – the paper layer underneath, and another layer, made of gold foil. Think lottery scratch-off tickets here.
The gold foil layer is imprinted with the map of the world as well.
When you visit a country or specific place, you scratch off that area of the map, revealing a brightly colored area beneath.
Various countries are represented in different colors, so you get a nice colorful map after you’ve thrown caution to the wind and visited every country by the time you’re 40.
I think kids would love the idea of being able to scratch off the places they’ve visited and get inspired for future trips. But there’s no doubt that this is also a great gift for any person who loves traveling.
The only drawback I see is that, according to one review I read, there are no lines separating the states of the U.S. That would be a helpful feature, especially for children. Of course, not having the lines might challenge us all to learn our geography a little better!
You can purchase the Scratch Off World Map at Urban Outfitters for only $34.
