Schoenhut String Harp with Bench

Let’s face it – as parents, we all think our kids are prodigies at something. My kid was swimming in the 8 foot end of our pool at 18 months of age and I was absolutely convinced he was the next Michael Phelps. However, right now the only similarity between the two is that they both eat about 10,000 calories a day.
But if you think your kid’s a musical prodigy, then this 15-string Harp with Bench is kind of a cool product.
A full size harp has 47 strings, so this is a scaled-down version for children. A full size harp might be a little intimidating for a kid. What I didn’t know until today is that a full size harp also has 7 foot pedals. Harp playing seems complicated!
This children’s harp doesn’t have any foot pedals, thankfully, so they can just worry about playing on the strings and making that angelic harp music.
The String Harp with Bench is 27 inches high and is designed for ages 6 and up. It comes in pink, or cherrywood, and weighs only 11 pounds. It’s fully tunable with zither pins and a zither pin wrench.
If your kid is expressing interest in classical music, or harp, or just is a musical kid, this would be a really fun choice for a gift. Somehow, I don’t see my rambunctious 7-year old boy playing this gracefully, but my daughter might.
The 15-String Harp with Bench is manufactured by Schoenhut Piano Company. They have all sorts of cool instruments. What’s the price, you ask? Well, oddly, Schoenhut doesn’t list any pricing on their site. I found it elsewhere on the ‘net retailing for $189, but selling for about $139.
Happy harping!
