In my opinion, great wall art is what ties a room together. Since my budget doesn’t allow for fancy oil paintings, however, I stick to art with a personal meaning. One of my recent finds was this DIY wall art kit from Red Envelope.
The kit comes with four colorful canvases and coordinating paint. You use the paint to make either handprints or footprints, then arrange them in a grid for a fun wall display. The picture shows just the prints on each canvas, but I think it would be nice to personalize each canvas with a name and the date the project was completed.
Handprint art is usually thought of as a child’s project, but this would be a fun family activity as well. The difference in size between mom, dad, and baby’s hands would make for an interesting arrangement.
And, if you need something to do with the fourth canvas, you could add a poem or make a collage picture using all three handprints together.
The Red Envelope handprint canvas kit retails for $39.99. In my experience, this is pretty comparable to what it would cost you to buy four 10×10 canvases and paint from your local craft store. When buying the kit, you won’t have to worry about painting the blank canvases with a background color and you can rest easy knowing that all of your supplies are non-toxic and safe for the skin.
What do you think of the Red Envelope handprint canvas kit? Is this an item you’d consider purchasing for yourself or giving as a gift to a fellow mommy friend?
