Preserve Recyclable Toothbrushes

Preserve Recyclable Toothbrushes

It seems that every day, I’m learning more about how much stuff we actually throw away that could easily be recycled into something else.

In our house, we’re still working on being vigilant about recycling the obvious things: cans, bottles, and paper. When I discovered these Preserve Recyclable Toothbrushes the other day, I realized that our family has a long way to go – and a lot to learn – about being green.

These are such a cool idea.

Most of Preserve’s toothbrushes are made out of crushed and recycled Stonyfield Farms yogurt cups.  So they start out being a recycled item. Cool. But if that sort of gives you the willies, not to worry. The materials go through a rigorous cleansing and testing process to make sure they are free of any foreign elements.

When you’re done using the toothbrush, you simply return it to Recycline in the included postage paid envelope. The company then takes the used toothbrushes and bristles and grinds it to make material for recycled plastic lumber.

Preserve toothbrushes come in soft, medium and ultrasoft. They also make a junior size so you can teach the concept of recycling to your kids as well.

The adult toothbrush is $3.66 and the junior is $2.95. However, if you buy the Preserve toothbrushes in larger quantities, you save even more. You get 10% off 2 toothbrushes, and 15% off 4 or more toothbrushes. Given that most quality toothbrushes in your local supermarket will run you $2 to $4, these recycled/recyclable toothbrushes are a real value AND you can feel good about what you’re doing for the environment.

You can purchase Preserve Recyclable Toothbrushes at Greenfeet.
