Recently, I was chatting with a fellow mom friend who has a son who just started kindergarten. She was looking for toys for him that were more grown up than preschool toys, but not overly complicated or violent like many of the toys made for older boys.
One of the suggestions I gave her was to check out the Playskool Heroes line. This product line includes figures from Marvel comics, Star Wars, and Transformers – three franchises that are hugely popular with elementary school boys.
The figures are well made, nicely detailed, and impossible for your child to break. Another thing I like about the Playskool Heroes toys is that they work really well with the Imaginext line of figures and play sets. My son will spend hours creating little stories with his collection of characters.
The well known figures from the Playskool Heroes line tend to be the stars of the show, with the pirates or firefighter from Imaginext acting as the supporting characters. The stories have gotten more involved as he’s gotten older, so this is definitely a toy that “grows” with your child.
The Playskool Heroes figures are $6.99 for a two pack, which makes them a great stocking stuffer idea for Christmas. When my son was in kindergarten, we filled his stocking with the figures and had Santa bring two of the larger play sets under the tree. He spent the rest of the day happily playing.
Does your son have any of the Playskool Heroes toys? If so, what items are his favorites?
