Here in Southern California, we wear flip flops (almost) all year round. Seriously, there have been some Christmases when it was 70+ degrees out and we were barbequing and wearing flip flops! And my family takes our flip flops seriously — we want high quality flip flops that will last a long time that are also extremely comfortable. Which is why when I ran across Planet Flops, my heart did a flip flop!

planet_flops_flip_flopsI can’t wait to try these flip flops out. Their website says that Planet Flops are incredibly comfortable because they are designed by a podiatrist and are made with natural Brazilian rubber. Apparently, natural rubber has increased flexibility and cushion . . . something you need in a good flip flop.

Why is natural rubber so different than synthetic rubber? Natural rubber comes from the rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis), and the harvesting of natural rubber occurs by harmlessly “tapping” into the tree to remove a milky sap from the bark. This does not affect the health of the tree, which makes rubber trees a renewable, sustainable source of income for the millions of people living in the rain forests of Brazil. Rubber trees are an excellent source for removing CO2 from the environment. And natural rubber is biodegradable, too!

planet_flops_true_greenPlanet Flops gives back, as well. For every pair of flip flops you buy, they plant ten trees!

Planet Flops come in a huge array of colors and styles, in sizes for the whole family. They are pricey – $28 a pair, but I know from experience that paying more for a high-quality pair of flip flops means that they will last for years.

So what do you think? Are you willing to give Planet Flops a try?

Sounds great! yes the price is high, but if the product lasts more than one summer, I’d be so happy to support a company with a conscience.

28 bucks is not that much more than, say, crocs. I think it’s fair. the second you mentioned that they plant ten trees, I said, wow, this will cost a lot of money. But I imagined hundred, thirty is not nearly as much. Think, only three dollars a tree. that’s easy. How do I know that they truly plant trees? I wish they would do it on my front lawn.
I can’t believe you dont have the holiday snow. What you are missing out in life :)

We just had a cold spell hit but I am not ready to put away my flip flops! I still wear them around the house. These sound great!
