Picture Me Cooking Kids’ Cookbook

Picture Me Cooking Kids’ Cookbook

My kids love to help out in the kitchen. I believe that the more I let them help, the more open they’ll be to trying new foods. So far, my theory hasn’t proved to be correct, but I can keep hoping.

I came across this kids’ cookbook concept and thought it was a neat idea. Picture Me Cooking Cookbook is a cookbook combined with a photo memory book.

The cookbook is set up in a typical cookbook layout and contains 54 kid-friendly recipes. Each recipe contains a photograph of the dish and also has a photo insert pocket, so that you can actually snap a photo of you and your child making that dish, then slide it into the insert for safekeeping.

There is also a section for parents or other family members to add family recipes to the book.

Picture Me Cooking Cookbook includes safety tips and features “Cooking Buddy” icons, which alert the child that adult supervision is required for that step of the recipe.

What kids don’t like to see themselves as the star of a book, right? I think the concept is good. Whether the recipes are tasty is another question. I don’t have a copy of the book to actually sample the recipes and try them out.

Picture Me Cooking is reasonably priced at about $17 at Amazon. Not a bad gift idea for an aspiring chef.

Now if I can just find a book that will give me recipes, make my kids the star of the book AND get them to eat their vegetables, I’d be all set!

This sounds like a lovely idea. Too bad you haven`t been able to test any of the recipes. I like the instant scrapbook idea combined with something your kids can also use as a cookbook for years. Worth checking out.

Fun for the kids. I must ask about your theory that kids will eat vegies if they prepare them, Are they preparing salads or just pizza? I think kids preparing thier own salad sets them up for nutritious feasts. If a kids gets a bowl of lettuce and tons of nuts, dried fruits, choice of dressing and cut up veggies, you might get something in there. As for the cookbook, make sure it comes with salad recipes.
