Personalized Baby Books

I’ll admit it – I’m not a fan of baby books. I always forget to fill in important information and I am really bad about keeping them updated. Truth be told, I haven’t completed any of the twins’ books since they were a month or so old! And my 3 year old’s book is (maybe) completed up to the time he turned 2.

But I blog! To me, blogging is better than keeping a baby book because it’s a record of the really important stuff: the fun they have, what they learn, the messes they make, what they like and dislike. Things that happen every day that make them who they are.

Looking back though, I wish I would’ve recorded when everybody cut which teeth, who was how tall when, and their “firsts”…crawling, walking, first overnight…the fun stuff.

Which is why I am so drawn to The Baby Book Boutique. What is The Baby Book Boutique? It’s a place where you can get a personalized baby book for your little ones, or to give as a great baby shower gift.

You can customize each book with baby’s name, and if that isn’t enough, you can even have personalized/customized art work done just for the baby-to-be.

Fair warning: this is not a cheap gift! Right on the home page of the site it states: “An upscale baby book to chronicle a child’s life on pages of magnificent custom artwork.”

Whenever “upscale,” “magnificent,” and “custom” are used in the same sentence, you know it’s going to cost you. The books run $115, to have the baby’s name handpainted on the cover is another $25, and to customize the entire book is another $79. Not cheap. But it definitely is a one-of-a-kind gift.

But my favorite part about this site is the fact that you can purchase baby books for adopted children, specifically for adopted children. They have different styles for domestic adoption, international adoption, and Gladney adoption. I’ve never seen a baby book for adopted children, but then again, I’ve never looked. Maybe they are more prominent than I realize.

So what do you think? Would you be willing to pay upwards of $200 for a personalized, customized, one-of-a-kind baby book?

Would I pay over $200 for a baby book? Uh, no.

I prefered to use a baby “first year” kind of calendar with stickers for the “firsts” and milestones. Way easier for a first-time or busy mom to remember to jot down.

The other idea that started to work, but then I neglected, was a blank journal where each night I would write down something from the child’s day, and more often the cute and goofy and smart and imaginative things they would say! You always think you’ll remember, but if you have more than one child, you will surely forget.

These are a tad pricey but I love the concept! My oldest daughter has everything documented for her entire first year but my other two children, not so much. I love what you said about blogging. It is so true about documenting the fun stuff. Stories and things.
