Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of my favorite children’s books. Even as a child, I loved the iconic illustrations in Lewis Carroll’s classic. A lot of the subtext was beyond my understanding the first few times I heard the story, but I think that’s part of the appeal. Every time I read about Alice in Wonderland, I notice small details that never occurred to me before.
When I saw these decorative trays from Red Envelope, I couldn’t help but add them to my wish list. The trays are available in three different designs and can be showcased as a group or ordered separately. Each tray has illustrations and quotations from the classic tale’s 1865 first edition.
Of the designs, I think “We’re all mad here” is by far my favorite. I’m thinking this would be perfect for my front porch as a welcome (or warning perhaps?) for guests. However, I do find it rather strange that none of the quotes are from Alice.
I would have loved a tray with “What is the use of a book, without pictures or conversations?” or “Curiouser and curiouser!” The Duchess quote “If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does” also seems like it’s a natural choice for a decorative Alice in Wonderland item.
The product description does say that these are made from glass, so I’d be careful with them if you plan on using them as trays for keys or spare change. Hanging them from the walls might be a little safer if your kids tend to be as accident prone as my son.
What do you think of the Alice in Wonderland decorative trays? Is this something you’d like for your home?
