You know your child is probably watching too much TV when he starts asking for products because they were on an infomercial! This year, my son decided he had to have a Packit to take his lunch to school. No cute cartoon lunchbox for him. Only a Packit would do. After all, what kid doesn’t want his own “portable mini fridge” with “eco safe cooling technology” to take to school?

I was hesitant with this purchase because I seldom see an infomercial product I really like. However, after almost a year of regular use, I’m willing to admit my son was right. The Packit is very handy. It’s easy to clean, easy to store, and really does keep his lunch cold all day. We’ve taken sandwiches, fruit, chopped veggies, salads, and juices to school with no problems. And, if you order from the Packit website, you can get a second free Packit so you always have an extra on hand if your child forgets it in his or her locker.

The only drawback I’ve found to the Packit is that you need to arrange the items inside the container carefully to make everything fit. A typical lunch for my son is a sandwich, a granola bar, an apple, and a sports bottle filled with juice. Everything fits, but it’s a tight squeeze.

When ordered online, the Packit comes in aqua, orange polka dot, and gray plaid. If your child wants something more fun looking, I’d suggest adding his or her name to the front with fabric paint. This will also help prevent the Packit from getting lost at school!

Do you pack your child’s lunch for school? If so, what products do you use to keep food fresh throughout the day?
