Oxo Candela Tooli Nightlights

Whether you are night feeding your newborn or tucking your toddler into his big boy bed, a good nightlight can make all the difference. Oxo’s Candela Tooli is one of the best of the bunch. Its playful shape, gentle glow, and movable light make a fun and versatile product for all ages.

Oxo makes more traditional plug-in-the-wall nightlights, which is why it is easy to think of Tooli – which sounds like the name of an exotic schoolmate – as more of a friend than a utilitarian object. But don’t doubt their usefulness. The rechargeable lights aren’t stuck to the wall and are suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Tooli’s mobile illumination means no more fumbling for candles and matches when the power is out.

Tooli is easy to operate, too. The light illuminates as soon as it is removed from its base, making it simple enough for even a toddler’s middle-of-the-night bathroom run. There is also a fun to push on and off button on the bottom of the lamp for when you’re away from the charging base. Not that you have to charge the lamp very often. The Tooli has an eight-hour battery life, which means even the most restless sleeper will eventually drift off to sleep under the warm glow.

And Tooli is a friend to both parent and child. When your small one wakes up in the night and sees his buddy glowing gently on the nightstand, chances are he will roll over and go right back to sleep. And that is a very good thing. Lights out, Tooli on.

Oxo Candela Tooli is available in sets of one or two in either red/magenta or blue/green. The set of two sells for $39.99; the single light is $26.95. You can buy them at Target or online at Amazon:
