Organize Your Baby’s Closet in Style

One of the best ways to save money when you have a baby is to gratefully accept whatever hand-me-downs you are offered and to snap up new clothes whenever they are at rock bottom prices, regardless of whether or not they are the size your child is currently wearing. But, trying to organize all of those items can be a giant hassle.

These closet dividers from Sugar Booger provide a way to neatly separate all of your baby’s clothing according to size so you can see what wardrobe options you have available without having to sort through piles of different sized clothing.

I would have loved something like this when my son was small. I tried to separate the clothes we were given into boxes, but there were several outfits that got misplaced because of my lack of organization. By the time I found the correct size of clothes, he was already too big to wear them!

Of course, you don’t really need to purchase clothing dividers if you don’t want to. The Sugar Booger dividers are made from a sturdy plastic, but it wouldn’t be too difficult to make a homemade version from cardboard if you weren’t fussy about how it looked.

On Pinterest, I’ve seen baby closets organized with color coded hangers in addition to the dividers. This would have been way too much effort for me as a sleep deprived new mom, but I have to admit that I admire this level of neatness in a baby nursery.

How did you keep your baby’s clothes organized during the first year?

These dividers would have been nice for me when my second child was wearing a combo of new and used clothing and sizes were hard to make out as labels faded or got wrinkled.

I did use different banker’s boxes and had the sizes of clothing marked clearly so I could bring up a new box as he grew.  It still helps for clothing his older brother has outgrown.
