Old Navy Activewear Is More Than a Tank and Sweats, and It Fits a Mom Budget

Sometimes I have to depend on cute workout clothes to get me motivated to work out. Terrible, I know, but it’s true. A goofy t-shirt or tank and a pair of sweats just don’t scream, “Get up and go run!”

I love Lululemon’s workout clothes, but I can’t buy them often because they’re so expensive. Old Navy, though, has some really cute, comfortable styles for much less. Some of my favorite workout attire is from their Active line.

In my experience, you won’t find the most powerful sports bras there, but if you layer them with workout tops that also have some support, running and jumping around are still comfortable as long as it isn’t too hot outside or wherever you’re getting your workout in.

My experience is based on B and C cup sizes, so you may be fine with just the sports bra if you’re smaller, or still be uncomfortable if you wear a larger cup size. The only really irritating issue with the Old Navy activewear—the sports bras in particular—involves the “padding.” There really isn’t enough oomph there to count as padding sometimes, and you have to really inspect the bra before purchasing it.

I got a sports bra with padding but no way of taking it out before washing the bra. Washing, even in a lingerie bag, almost always ends up with the padding folded up and off-center, so I have to try to smooth it out through the fabric of the bra itself. If you have the time and energy to hand wash your sports bras, this may be a non-issue.

The stars of the line, in my opinion, are the boot-cut yoga pants and the Active GoDRY Tanks, but I have yet to find anything I wasn’t thrilled to wear, aside from that issue with the padding in the bra.

The pieces of activewear I’ve gotten from this line almost seem to compress certain areas and make me look more taut (and I’m not even talking about the compression pants/capris they have), especially the yoga pants and some of the camis.

If you’re on the hunt for workout clothing, take a look at these during one of the sales. The prices are already pretty low, but if you catch them during a sale and have a little Super Cash to burn, you can get a great deal.
