MY-BANDS: An Easy Way To ID Your Child

Have you ever lost your child at the mall? Or even turned around to get something off the shelf at the grocery store and turn back around and your child disappears? Yes, they are usually hiding or they wander off, but what if they are truly lost? You can’t find your child and he can’t find you. Does your child know your name and cell phone number? Your address? Panic sets in. What do you do?

There are certain products that come along that can literally be lifesavers … My-Bands is one of those products.

My-Bands are comfortable, silicone, USB Identification wristbands. They come in a variety of colors and are water resistant. Each band contains a USB flash mass storage device loaded with a Universal file that can be read by both PC’s and MAC’s and does not require any additional software.

The bands come with instructions for loading numerous emergency contacts onto the USB device, so emergency personnel have easy access to this critical information so they can reunite you with your child. There is also enough space to upload a current photo and scanned fingerprint.

The MY-ID band holds the emergency contact information of whom to call when a child is lost, or missing; NOT the childs name and personal information.

Does your child have a medical condition or illness that would require special medical attention? The MY-MED band would be perfect for your child. It was designed to be used for medical emergencies. It’s easily recognizable by emergency and medical personnel because the band is marked with the universal red medical cross.

The bands cost $30 each, and I think that just having the security of knowing that somebody could easily access your contact information in an emergency situation is worth every penny.

Would you consider purchasing a My-Band for your child? I am going to get one for each of my children!

These could be mighty important. However, what if a technical illiterate person finds my kid and does not know how to use the thing? I believe there are still such humans roaming the globe. And pray tell, I’d much rather find my kid myself then have someone find him, scan his info into a computer… while i fret with tears.

So let me understand, the bracelet has a small thumbdrive in it? Can your kid remove it, and say, eat it? Toddlers are supposed to be wearing this, right? Kids that don’t know their last names or phone numbers?

Personally, I’d rather go with the temporary tattoo idea and just add my cell phone so I can get called ASAP while I’m still looking for her in the mall.

I also remember the temporary tattoo post you had a little while ago and might use that instead as well. But This is a good idea and I could see how it could help in a very scary situation!

I teach Special Education. Several of my (not-so-verbal) students have these bracelets, and they are truly a godsend! I often worried about what would happen to these children if they ever got lost in a store or even around their neighborhoods, as they couldn’t convey any of the pertinent information that would get them home. These bracelets take care of all of that!

I think I would use both. That way the tattoo would work on a trip and the bracelet every where with just phone number or medical info.
