Mr. Food Face Dinner Plate

Mr. Food Face Dinner Plate

Mealtime, at least in the last 7 years, has become one of my least-anticipated times of the day.

I have two ultra-picky eaters, and while I try hard not to battle with my kids over food, it doesn’t mean it’s any less frustrating when they don’t eat or aren’t adventurous.

That whole rule of exposing children to a new food 15 times before they’ll like it? Yeah…I’d say the actual stat is about 4x that number.

It’s gotten a bit easier over the last couple of years, but we’re not over the hump yet.

I’ve tried lots of different techniques to make mealtime more fun. I’m really liking this new idea I found called the Mr. Food Face Dinner Plate from Batter Up Kids.

Mr. Food Face is a 8.5″, hotel quality ceramic plate imprinted with a very neutrally drawn, but cute, cartoon face with a bald head.

The idea? Your kid takes his peas, spaghetti, scrambled eggs, or cauliflower and uses it to decorate the face with hair, beards, colorful eyeballs, you name it.

How cute is this?

And it’s dishwasher safe – a big plus in my book.

I am certain my kids would find this the coolest thing ever. Here’s my concern: they’d spend so much time carefully designing and constructing their works of culinary art, their food would get cold and they’d be too distracted to eat it.

Because that’s how my kids roll.

I still think it’s worth shelling out $11.99 for…just to see.

I agree with your thoughts there. My kid is poky enough at the dinner table. I would, however, give it a try for snacks that don’t matter if they eat in a timely manner or not … it would certainly work until the novelty wore off.
