Remember back to the days when you brought your baby home from the hospital? You were elated, but exhausted. Sleep is a thing of the past, and when you were able to sleep, it was always a light sleep because you were so worried about whether or not the baby was okay in his crib. You were glued to the baby monitor, listening to every sound and breath. But now there’s a monitor out there that can help you catch some ZZZs without worrying about the baby. I’m talking about the Snuza Mobile Baby Movement Monitor.

The Snuza monitor will detect the slightest movement during sleep and alert you if movement stops. It monitors your baby’s movements, even the slightest breathing movement . . . you just clip the monitor onto your baby’s diaper and switch it on. An alarm sounds if movement (including breathing) stops.

There are no cords, wires, pads or external power required; it’s completely portable and can be used anywhere. And because parents want to hear and see their baby as well, the Snuza can be used in conjunction with any sound or video monitor to give you additional peace of mind.

There are two different Snuza monitors available: the Halo and the Go!. The Halo (about $120) is more pricey than the Go! (about $90) because it has the ability to vibrate and rouse a baby who is not moving. The Go! does the exact same thing the Halo does, without the ability to vibrate which makes it the more affordable choice.

Do you think that the Snuza is worth the cost? Would you purchase one?

I dunno … it may be the unpopular answer, but really, why wake a baby in a deep sleep? Being vigilant is one thing, being paranoid is another. My two cents. Not for me.

I wouldn’t take the vibrating one, but the other one, hmm. I’d have to see how screwed up with post par tum nerves i am.

I think it is a really neat concept. I probably would not spend that much money on something like that bit it is good to know it is out there.

I have heard of this before. I think if it was necessary… yes.

I agree with Ruby, and also, this is my first baby, so I don’t know how a newborn sleeps, but are they that comatose to never have that slip off of their diaper?!
