Mobicam DXR Baby Monitor

When babies and toddlers go to sleep at night and parents shut their nursery doors, the imagination starts to run wild – and not in a good way.

What if the baby isn’t sleeping in the proper position? What if his diaper falls off and he wets the bed everywhere? What if toddler climbs out of the bed and hurts himself? Why is she crying so much in there – did she lose her pacifier?

So many questions and things that go bump in the night.

Monitors and baby cameras have become standard operating procedure in most home nurseries. They’re such a great way to keep your sanity.

But as technology improves, so do the features built-in to baby monitors and cameras.

This Mobicam DXR touts having a crystal-clear and private signal for up to 450 feet. Wow! The night vision is said to be effective up to 40 feet.

If you have a 40 foot nursery, you probably won’t need a Mobicam, because you likely already have a personal 24/7 bodyguard for your child, right?

Anyway, the Mobicam is equipped with lots of other cool stuff, too. This is a gadget guy’s dream.

You can record directly to an SD card instead of having to connect to a computer (but you can do that, too). You can set up auto-recording options to kick on based on sound, on demand, or continuous.

The viewing monitor has a 3.5″ LCD hi-res display and 8-hour rechargeable batteries.

The included PC USB connector is video-chat enabled. You can use the Mobicam DXR as a webcam to hook into Skype, Windows Messenger and Google.

If you have a husband, or know a dad, who gets geeked-out on this sort of thing, or a mom who is a nervous wreck every time she puts her baby in the crib, this makes a perfect gift. The Mobicam DXR can be just as easily used in a home office, small business or even babysitter-watching situation.

Mobicam DXR will set you back $229 at the Mobicam website.

I flip-flop about whether I think these cameras are fear-inducing or a good idea. If used in moderation, I think they can be helpful. But knowing how I used to be GLUED to my old baby monitor (sound only) I felt like I was on Amber Alert every minute of the day … and night. No rest for Momma.

Sometimes you just have to close the door and go have a nap, too.
