It’s no secret that the writers here at Smart Mom Picks love Melissa & Doug toys…we have written about them numerous times! And I want to share them with you once again: this time, the Melissa & Doug underwater floor puzzle.

I think that most kids like putting together puzzles, and it’s something that we can all do together. It teaches the kids to work together, use their problem solving skills, and also encourages them to think outside of the box.

The reason I like the Melissa & Doug floor puzzles (there are several different scenes) is because the pictures are stunning, and because the pieces are big enough for the kids’ little hands. These puzzles make a great rainy day activity, but they can also be done outside on the patio because the pieces are extra-thick, durable and easy to clean.

Did I mention the puzzles are also inexpensive (about $13)? The puzzle is a big one, too…it’s 2 feet x 3 feet when assembled. It’s something the kids can do over and over and not get tired of it, and also the more they do it, the more confident they come in participating in putting it together.

If the ocean isn’t your kid’s thing, there’s a ton of Melissa & Doug floor puzzles to choose from, so take your pick! I really like the bilingual floor puzzle (English/Spanish) and I know that my son would like it to!

Do your kids enjoy doing puzzles? What do you think of these floor puzzles?

Oh I like the idea of the bilingual floor puzzle! Here in LA my kids started Spanish in preschool….

I get the kids puzzles for Christmas and usually I try to find the Melissa & Doug ones.
