Lily’s Pad Handpainted Apparel
Here at Smart Mom Picks, we’re always on the lookout for unique items for you and your kids. The stuff we feature here is typically not your run-of-the-mill T-shirt, sippy cup or toy.
When I look for apparel items to feature here, my eyes tend to glaze over. The companies making children’s apparel seem endless. Many are just variations on the same theme.
I’m sure they’re out there, but I’ve never come across handpainted kids’ apparel before today.
Lily’s Pad makes just that – handpainted kids’ clothing – mostly onesies and T-shirts. Each item, made of 100% cotton, is painted by hand, so every piece is unique. The paints used conform with CPSIA for lead laws, so there’s no danger issue.
You have to really like the tie-dyed look, because most of the designs are seem to be very simple and along those lines. This cute monkey onesie is a great example…purple accents with an adorable monkey applique (I think it’s applique, anyway). The shirt is also adorned with some cute little sequins.
Here’s another style that Lily’s Pad offers. This an Easter Egg onesie from their holiday collection. Cute for Easter Bunny pictures, right?
Lily’s Pad also offers tutus that coordinate with some of the T-shirts and onesies. This multicolored one was my personal fave. When you purchase a tutut, you get a matching headband for free. Bonus!
The applique detailing on the onesies really does seem to have a lot of detail. I grabbed a closeup of this sweet ballerina design.
I just wish Lily’s Pad had more of a selection to choose from. All of the shirts, while unique from a handpainting standpoint, still sort of look the same. Handcrafting doesn’t come cheaply, either. They run $29.99 and the tutus range from $19.99 up to $34.99 (that’s actually about going rate for a handmade tutu, speaking from experience).
