Labryinth Balance Board

Labryinth Balance Board

I feel like a senior citizen saying this, but simple toys make the best toys.

I could write a book on the number of craptastic toys I’ve thrown away that were cheaply made or just had a horrible concept that didn’t hold my child’s interest for more than 60 seconds.

Oh, if I had a dollar for every one.

I really like this toy that I found called the Labryinth Balance Board.  It’s so simple, but brilliant in its design and, I think, probably great fun for kids and adults.

The balance board is a 25″ x 19″ board with a ball maze built into the top non-slip surface.  You hop onto it and try to maneuver the balls from the outside lanes into the center, or vice versa.

It supports adults up to 275 pounds, too, so you can challenge yourself and your kids to contests and games.

They make a junior version of this board for younger kids as well. This version is for ages 5 and up.

There really aren’t a ton of toys I know about that focus on teaching kids balance, which is such an important skill for nearly any sport or activity that kids get interested in. Whether it’s gymnastics, soccer or dance, this toy would help kids have fun while building their strength and balance.

My son practices Tae Kwon Do and this would be an excellent tool for him to improve his balance as he moves toward higher belt levels.

The Labryinth Balance Board is made of laminated birch plywood that has been FSC certified from sustainable forests and is packaged simply in a corrugated box.

This is a toy you can feel good about buying. At $90, it’s not cheap, but I’m pretty confident that this is a toy that kids will use for years and years and it won’t get destroyed.

You can purchase the Labryinth Balance Board at Organic Bug.

Looks like fun! A combination of exercise equipment and a game in one. I’d like to try it, I bet the kids would be lining up to play with this. Price is a bit steep, however.

What a great toy. I love what it does for a kids brains and balance. At ninety dollars i wonder if it holds the children’s attention for long enough. If the kids would play with this for an entire summer, five days a week, I would run for it. But if they master it and trash it to the garage, or if they don’t like it at all, ninety dollars is too much.
