If you have a child who likes to build things, did you know that there is a whole world of options beyond Legos? My son adores Legos and has a huge collection.
I never allowed him to have other brands of building toys because I was convinced that they wouldn’t work with the Legos and I didn’t want to have to worry about keeping everything separated. But, we recently had an opportunity to test out the Kre-O Battleship U.S.S. Missouri set and I was pleased by how well it complimented his Lego collection.
Kre-O toys are made by Hasbro, so there’s no need to worry about them being cheap generic Lego knockoffs. They are the same quality as Legos. In fact, if you place the individual blocks side by side, it’s unlikely you’d be able to see a difference. They are interchangeable and fully compatible.
My son used some of his Lego pieces to add extra features to the battleship. He also added some Lego mini figures to great a more detailed “story” for what the Kre-O characters were doing.
The Kre-O U.S.S. Missouri set has several great features, including a working crane to lift the attack boat. The people seem to be my son’s favorite part of most building block toy sets, so I was pleased to see that the U.S.S. Missouri came with five different figures in addition to all of the parts needed to build the boat.
Currently, the Kre-O line includes Battleship and Transformer toys. My son seems to really like the movie tie-in aspect of the Kre-O toys, so we’ll definitely be looking to add a few more sets to his building collection in the future.
