Here’s something for the adult portion of parenthood: finding a good coffee table. It’s hard to find a good coffee table that is also kid friendly. There are a few options to choose from but usually they are quite expensive or just plain ugly. However, this ottoman from Room and Board looks like it may just do the trick: the Lind Ottoman.
It’s round, so no sharp corners to poke your tot. It’s a little squishy, so when a child runs into it full force (or, more likely, tumbles off the couch while jumping), it won’t cause any wounds that need stitches. It’s leather so it’s mostly a wipe clean surface (within reason, of course). And, it’s inexpensive, depending on the size you like (20″, 36″ or 42″ round but they also come in squares, too).
The ottoman as coffee table is not something that all parents are comfortable with. Think spilled glasses. However, if you need a hard surface you can always place a tray on top of the ottoman when you have wine glasses (or any other type of glasses for that matter!). And, an ottoman is good for feet – always a plus in a coffee table.
Room and Board is good for finding stylish furniture that won’t break the bank. It’s no IKEA, so you won’t find disposable furniture. But, if you’re looking for something that will fit your adult lifestyle but also include your children’s needs, then check out the Lind Ottoman.
