I love my Kindle! I am an avid reader and can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve ever purchased for myself. But sadly, I did not spring for the cool case. My Kindle case is plain. It does its job, but it’s not pretty or fun to look at. One of these days, I plan to upgrade!

Amazon sells several lovely cases for the Kindle, although my favorite is this Kate Spade version. The others in the line include covers inspired by classics like The Great Gatsby and The Importance of Being Earnest.

I usually have my Kindle either on my bedside table or in my purse, but it would look right at home next to my collection of Penguin clothbound classics with this gorgeous case.

The Kate Spade Kindle covers are made from canvas, but the canvas is coated to be water repellent. They have a hinge system to keep the Kindle in place. They do not have a dedicated closure, but most of the reviewers on Amazon report not having any trouble keeping the cover closed.

A few of the Amazon reviewers mention trouble with the hinges interfering with the power source of the Kindle. I admit this sounds disturbing, but I think it’s an old problem that has since been resolved. The first Kindle cover I had did the same thing and Amazon promptly refunded my money. So, I wouldn’t let this particular issue keep you from choosing a cute Kate Spade cover.

Do you have a Kindle or other e-reader? If so, tell us what type of case do you have? Did you look for something functional or did you choose your case to make a style statement?

I may be the only person who owns a Kindle DX but I like the size of it because it gives me more page to read before turning. Being a quick and voracious reader, this was key to my purchase decision. And, if I choose a bigger font size when my eyes get tired, the page is still large enough to handle it without turning every other second.

But we’re talking about covers. I splurged and got the gorgeous pebbled leather cover w/ closure in a deep orange. Love it. And I can use the cover to prop open the “book” when I’m at the table.
