Recently an alarming statistic came to my attention that 1 in 4 kids and teens in the United States is dealing with diabetes due to obesity. That’s just uncalled for and quite frankly, an epic failure on the parts of parents and schools for not getting our kids up and moving.

Additionally, we are obviously not providing them with sound nutritional diets and knowledge as to how to keep themselves healthy.

So how do we combat this issue?

We start in our homes. We start small and we start by providing our kids with activities and options that get them moving. One such item is this indoor trampoline that’s perfect for those rainy days and freezing cold winter months where everyone tends to become hermit-like in behavior.

It’s so easy to sit on our duffs during those times, so why not equip our homes with options that make it possible to be active even when the outdoors isn’t open to us?

This trampoline is perfect for getting the heart rate moving and the muscles working on a small child up to 100 lbs. Our children have spent hours using this trampoline in their playroom. It’s great for small children just learning how to get their balance and it works for the big ones who are agile and love to try and get a bit higher in the air.

The big kids love it for the freeing, up in the air fun and the little ones love it as they learn how to become more independent from the bar. They all learn how to take turns since this is a one person at a time type of trampoline – which is an added life lesson benefit of this toy because we all know there simply isn’t enough space for each child to have their own indoor trampoline.

Although admittedly our twins have been known to bounce together on occasion….it has become quite the giggle fest and only once a head bump situation.

The important part about having this toy in our playroom is it offers a way for our girls to get their heart rate going while indoors, which I love because no matter what the weather conditions, our girls can be active.

How do you get creative with active play when the weather isn’t cooperating?

The trampoline looks like a lot of fun, but I worry about the safety of it. Are these trampolines relatively safe?
