I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for infomercial products. I know, I know…most of them are big disappointments, but every now and then I run across products that really work and make my life much easier! And one of my favorite As Seen on TV products is the Vidalia Chop Wizard.
Why do I love the Chop Wizard so much? Because I hate cutting onions and garlic, but since I cook with them so often I have to. I’ve been cutting these things for years, and by now, you’d think I could do it like a well trained chef, but no, when I do it by hand they still never come out the same size and it takes me forever to do. And I cry…from the fumes not because I’m cutting onions yet again! And then I broke down and spent the $20 and bought the Chop Wizard.
It is SO easy to use! You can use it to cut almost all veggies and fruits (you can even use it quickly chop hard boiled eggs or to cube cheese, which my kids love.) I love it because it also makes everything perfectly uniform.
How does it work? I skin an onion, chop it in half and stick it on top of the green chopping blade tray. Push down on the cover, and voila! In one quick chop, you’ve got half of a perfectly chopped onion!
I also like that there are two different sized trays; one for larger sized pieces and one for smaller ones (or smaller items like garlic or nuts). It’s not the easiest product to clean, but for the speed and convenience of it, I find it worth it.
