One thing that all of my kids love to do together…and will actually sit and do without fighting…is searching for hidden objects in the Highlights Hidden Pictures books. They’re fun, just difficult enough to keep them challenged, and they keep the kids busy for blocks of time! I remember them from when I was a kid, and I even enjoy sitting down to do them with the kids. So when I was asked to review the new Highlights Hidden Pictures App, I jumped at the chance!

Just like you probably remember from when you were a kid, the hidden pictures have a scene with objects hidden within it. Some are easy to find, while some are more challenging. My son LOVES this app, and plays them over and over even though he knows where many of the objects are. Another cool thing about this app is that it was recently featured in the New York Times article, Apps to Keep Children Happy, and has tons of 5-star reviews on iTunes.

Even my two year olds can play the My First Hidden Pictures App, geared for younger children. It’s the same as the Hidden Pictures App, however the objects appear bigger and there aren’t as many to find.

And while these games are fun, they also help kids learn how to zero in on details, improve concentration and build self-confidence. And if you don’t have an iPad or iPhone, your kids can still check out these games! You can print out some Hidden Pictures or play online at Hidden Pictures Archive at HighlightsKids.com…a site definitely worth checking out!

ooh I loved these as a kids. I am so going to download these apps. I think it would be a good app for during church. Is it awful I let my kids play with my iPhone at church? lol it keeps them being really good so thats a plus. :)

LOL @LivingtheScream, no, it’s not awful! I’d bring a bag full of Cheerios, raisins, toy cars, tiny books, etc., all to stop them from squirming, crying and fussing for one little hour. Trust me, the adults around you have NO problem with you keeping your children quiet. :)

Oh yeah, nice app, too! Will for sure have to check it out.
