I have never been much of a milk drinker and I’m afraid I haven’t done a very good job encouraging my son to drink milk either. I know milk has nutritional benefits, but the taste has never appealed to me and it’s a pain to keep on hand due to the need for refrigerator and paying attention to expiration dates. My son drinks a bit of milk with his cereal at breakfast, but that’s about it.
When I first heard about Hershey’s shelf safe milk products, I was immediately intrigued. This milk comes in Tetra Pak cartons that look like juice boxes and need no refrigeration until they are opened. The unopened milk is good for six to nine months.
If you’re wondering how this is possible, it’s because the milk is pasteurized at a higher temperature, but for a shorter time. There are no extra preservatives added as part of the process.
As far as taste is concerned, the white chocolate flavor Hershey’s milk is very good. My son and I both loved it. My husband also thought it was very good, although he is more of a milk drinker than my son and I to begin with.
This is a product I can see buying for family picnics and on the go meals or keeping in the pantry in case we don’t make it to the grocery store in a particular week. It would definitely encourage us to drink more milk.
