If you’re looking for a way to help your child through milestones such as a first trip to the dentist, a first haircut, or learning how to swim, the Luca Lashes series might be worth a look.
Luca Lashes is a line of interactive ebooks and apps that follow Luca as he tackles various challenges. Luca feels worried at first, but then bats his magic eyelashes to make himself feel brave enough to tackle the task at hand.
The illustrations for the series are beautiful and the stories are short so they don’t tax your little one’s short attention span. The books are written to be appropriate for children up to four years of age.
The end of each book has parent tips for helping your child get through whatever challenge he or she is facing, whether it’s going to the doctor or visiting grandma in a nursing home. The tips aren’t terribly original, but they you may find them helpful if you’re not the type of person who spent hours pouring over parenting books as soon as she found out she was pregnant.
I love that there are free printable activities on the Luca Lashes website that you can have your kids complete after reading the book. This is a wonderful way for young children to connect with a story and something that I wish more authors would consider doing.
Luca Lashes books and apps are available for the iPad, Nook, Kindle, iOS, and Droid devices. Go to the Luca Lashes website for links to download the first book in the series, Luca Lashes: The Brown-Eyed Boy with the Magic Eyelashes, for free and to purchase other titles in the series.
